Our Services

Providing treatment for acute or chronic pain, osteopathy is a form manual medicine that focuses on treating the body as unit. Techniques such as soft tissue massage, stretching, muscle energy techniques (MET) and joint mobilisation/manipulation are implemented to help restore the body’s function and allow it to perform at its optimal capacity. Osteopathy mainly focuses on the treatment of the musculoskeletal system using our “hands-on” holistic approach. Osteopaths do not just focus on your symptoms but look above and below the site of pain to find the underlying cause. The benefits of osteopathy include pain relief, improved mobility, reduced muscle tension, improved sleep and energy levels and improved overall health.

Four main principles

  1. The body is a unit; the person is a unit of body, mind, and spirit.

  2. The body is capable of self-regulation, self-healng, and health maintenance.

  3. Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated.

  4. Rational treatment is based upon an understanding of above three principles.

The above principles are the foundation of our profession and what allow us to help achieve your goals.

Benefits of Osteopathy

Dry Needling

In conjunction with osteopathic treatment our osteopaths can use dry needling to aid with muscle recovery. Our osteopaths have completed additional training in dry needling and it is a widely used technique amongst allied health professionals. Ideal for easing muscular pain, increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation, dry needling involves the use of solid fine needles. These sterile needles are gently inserted into trigger points of a muscle to promote the healing process of the tissue. The needles are generally left in for a few minutes before being removed. Your osteopath may use this technique if the muscle is not responding adequately to massage or stretching.

When the needle is inserted you may feel a small pinprick or nothing at all. When the needles are removed after a couple of minutes, it is uncommon to have bleeding or bruising. If this does occur, it is only very minor and short lasting after a few seconds. Additionally, the areas that have been dry needled can remain tender for 24-48hrs after the consultation. If you have any questions regarding dry needling please call or email the clinic.
